State Health Officials Announce Ninth Human Case of West Nile Virus in Massachusetts - October 24, 2025

West Nile Virus positive mosquito samples have been found in Barnstable, Boston, Framingham, Lincoln, Lynnfield, Newton, North Reading, Otis, Pittsfield, Saugus, Tisbury and Waltham. Many communities have been increased to Moderate Risk, including North Reading, Peabody and Lynnfield - August 8, 2025

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) today announced the first confirmed case of West Nile virus in an animal this year. A goat was exposed to WNV in Lunenburg in Worcester County. The towns of Lunenburg, Leominster, Shirley, and Fitchburg are being raised to moderate risk - July 15, 2025

DPH Clinical Advisory on Tick Bite Prophylaxis - July 14, 2025

The Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control and Wetlands Management District is conducting an application to control adult mosquitoes on Monday August 11, 2025, in the evening between the hours of 8:00 pm and 12 am. In case of inclement weather, the backup date of application would be Tuesday August 12, 2025. The areas to be treated are Rubchinuk Park, Howe Manning School, and Fuller Meadow School. Mosquito Spraying will take place at Natsue Way and Rubchinuk Park on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 between the hours of 8:50 PM and 12:00 AM. Rain date will be Wednesday, June 18.
