Information on Tax Bills and Abatements


On Tuesday, April 7, the Middleton Board of Selectmen adopted several sections of Chapter 53 of the Acts of 2020. Chapter 53 was passed to give relief to taxpayers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sections adopted by the Board of Selectmen offer taxpayers the following relief:

  • 4th Quarter tax bills: The due date is pushed back from May 1 to June 1. Please see the Treasurer-Collector at https://middletonma.gov/158/TreasurerCollector if you have questions;
  • Abatements and Deferrals: The deadline to file abatement and deferral applications is pushed back to June 1. Please see Board of Assessors at https://middletonma.gov/316/Board-of-Assessors if you have questions;
  • Interest and Penalties: Interest and penalties on taxes and other charges due on or after March 10, 2020 or later are waived as long as payment is made by June 30, 2020. Please note that if payment is made after June 30, 2020 the normal penalties and interest will be assessed.
