Mission Statement

The Treasurer / Collector's Office will continue to provide taxpayers and town employees with professional and courteous customer service. We will answer all inquires in a timely manner. We will persevere in treating all taxpayers with equity and take all necessary steps, allowable by law to collect on all past due accounts.

Municipal Lien Certificate

A Municipal Lien Certificate (MLC) is a legal document usually requested for property transfers and refinances. Request forms for MLCs can be found here and submitted to the Treasurer's office in writing along with a $50.00 fee per parcel. This document is recorded at the Essex County Registry of Deeds in Salem, Massachusetts. It may list any outstanding property taxes and utilities at the time of request. It also contains record owner, property, location, value assessment, land area and book and page of recorded deed.

Drop Box Payments

The drop box is located to the right of the building door by the ramp entrance. Please place all payments in an envelope addressed accordingly. Any other correspondence for town business should be addressed to the appropriate department. Do not leave cash.

 The drop box is available 24/7. 

Abandoned Property

In accordance with MGL Chapter 200A Section 9A, this is a 60 day notice of owners of uncashed checks that are deemed abandoned.
